How the Exotec Skypod system works
The Exotec Skypod system combines the advantages of high-density storage rack with autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) to deliver a unique goods-to-person solution for automated storage and order fulfillment. Goods are stored in bins or on trays, which are inducted into the system through either bin interface or ergonomic workstations. From there, the Skypod mobile robots retrieve containers and transport them across the warehouse floor and into racking locations for storage.
When a product needs to be retrieved to fulfill an order, the robots can access and retrieve the item from the racking location in under two minutes. The system’s workstations are equipped with ramps that allow Skypod robots to ergonomically present bins and trays to the operator. With integrated screens and scanners, the workstations support order picking, replenishment and inventory checks, enabling operators to process up to 400 containers per hour. Optional accessories such as Pick to Light and additional scanners can be added to further enhance accuracy. For increased throughput, Skypod’s Order Movers can be incorporated into workstations, allowing operators to prepare up to four orders simultaneously while the conveyor system automatically introduces and removes fulfillment containers. The Skypod system operates efficiently in both chilled and ambient environments.
The entire system is managed by the Deepsky®, Exotec’s proprietary warehouse execution system (WES), which seamlessly integrates with your warehouse management system (WMS). This software also enables Skypod robots to prioritize urgent orders, ensuring they are processed as quickly and efficiently as possible.
