Oregon Liquor Control Commission (OLCC) Case Study | Food & Beverage

Automation Drives Significant Gains in Liquor Distribution Capacity

The Oregon Liquor Control Commission (OLCC), founded in 1933, is the sole distributor for distilled spirits in Oregon, serving over 260 liquor stores. The OLCC's previous linear conveyor system only allowed shipping from one door at a time, limiting their daily volume capacity and causing operations to spill into the next day. OLCC needed a system that could nearly double its speed to increase shipping capacity and efficiency.

To solve these issues, OLCC partnered with RH Brown’s system integration team, which is now a Bastian Solutions regional office in the Pacific Northwest. The new system increased shipping capacity to 1,300 to 1,500 cases per hour, reducing shipping time by three to three and a half hours daily. Orders now reach liquor stores quicker, reducing delays in delivery and out-of-stock items on shelves.

“Working with Hytrol and RH Brown exceeded our expectations, allowing us to ship faster, be more precise, and grow our business. The integration process was smooth, with open communication and quick issue resolution,” said Barbara Feathers, Manager of Distribution Operations at OLCC.
