INDIANAPOLIS - Supply & Demand Chain Executive has selected Bastian 
Solutions, a Toyota Advanced Logistics company, as a recipient of a SDCE 100 Award for 2020.
Spotlighting a project with a biomedical company, Bastian Solutions’ winning system featured Exacta Warehouse Control Software (WCS), custom conveyor and ergonomically engineered pick stations to allow for the system to operate in a 40-degree Fahrenheit cold room. After providing this integrated picking and storage solution, the client was able to increase order accuracy and efficiency, allowing them to sustain 20 percent year-over-year growth.
Blake Bearden, director of California regional sales for Bastian Solutions, was grateful for an opportunity to showcase the unique engineering challenges involved in this project. “The primary driver for this project was to assist the company in its growth and distribution needs to meet growing customer demand. The challenges of implementing this goods-to-person automation for the first time in a refrigerated environment, allowing the normally captive storage totes to leave the storage aisles and traverse the system, and the requirement for pickers to interface with the automation in an ambient pick area all provided our team with a great deal of engineering obstacles to overcome.”
