The Importance of Hiring the Right People

Shelby Shay | 04 October 2010

BMH recognizes that our talented and driven employees are responsible for the success of the company, so we regularly analyze where we need to grow and how we can recruit top candidates.  In recent years, we have hired many successful engineers through career fairs.  We are fortunate to be headquartered near two top engineering schools, Purdue University and Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, and many of our satellite offices are also located near excellent universities, such as Georgia Tech, Missouri S&T, University of Louisville, and Cal Poly Pomona.

Our goal is to hire the brightest students and give them responsibilities that will help them grow with the company.  After a few years, we have strong employees who understand all aspects of the material handling business and who strive to keep our customers happy. Colin Shipley (pictured above) graduated from Rose-Hulman with a degree in mechanical engineering and an interdisciplinary minor in robotics.  He was recently hired as a robotics engineer at Bastian Solutions Robotics in St. Louis. Shipley's senior project consisted of creating a robotic arm display for the Terre Haute Children's Museum. “Completing this project allowed me to give back to the community while expanding my technical expertise,” said Shipley, who has already had the opportunity to work on many challenging projects in his role at Bastian.

With talented people like Colin, Bastian Solutions will continue to grow and achieve our goals of delivering quality solutions that exceed our customers' expectations.  To view our current open positions, please visit our career page.
