Enhancing Efficiency in Indian Industries with Advanced Conveyor Systems

Ramesh Gudennavar | 14 June 2023

Efficient and streamlined operations are vital for the success of any industry. In India, companies are constantly seeking innovative solutions to improve productivity, reduce costs and enhance overall efficiency. ‘Research and Markets’ reports that India’s warehousing market is expected to reach INR 2,872.10 bn by 2027.One significant aspect of achieving these goals lies in optimizing material handling and warehouse operation processes.

Not all situations call for significant technology enhancements. More important than installing a trending technology solution is installing a technology solution that has the right impact for your needs. A section or a whole conveyor system for example can still significantly improve efficiencies for both your operations and your operators. While simple compared to intricate goods-to-person or robotic technology, solutions do not need to be complex or overly advanced to make an impact.

For example, moving large and heavy items reliably and securely from point A to point B with a defined conveyor path means retaining the integrity of the product as it gets prepared to be sent to a customer. It also means improved, consistent throughputs. Plus, a more ergonomic design that eliminates lift and carry or reduces the use of hand trucks and forklifts. That, however, is only one example. Conveyor is a proven solution with various applications.

Understanding Various Conveyor Technology Options

Conveyors are versatile tools that can handle a variety of product sizes, shapes and weights, and can be tailored to operate in a variety of facility layouts. While the following is not a comprehensive list, these are some of the most common conveyor solutions among our customers include Roller Zero Pressure Direct Current Conveyor (RZPDC), Belted Zero Pressure Direct Current Conveyor (BZPDC), Gravity Conveyor and Curved Conveyor.

1. Roller Zero Pressure Direct Current Conveyor (RZPDC)

The RZPDC is a highly efficient conveyor system. Its main advantage lies in its ability to transport materials without any pressure or accumulation zones. By employing a series of individually powered rollers, the Roller Zero Pressure Direct Current Conveyor ensures a smooth flow of goods, eliminating the risk of collisions or product damage.

Indian industries can greatly benefit from roller zero pressure conveyors due to their adaptability. They are suitable for transporting a wide range of products, including lightweight packages, fragile goods and even irregularly shaped items. Moreover, RZPDCs are flexible and can be easily integrated into existing production lines, making them an ideal choice for industries looking to enhance their operations without significant modifications or disruptions.

2. Belted Zero Pressure Direct Current Conveyor (BZPDC)

The Belted Zero Pressure Direct Current Conveyor is another conveyor solution that has the potential to offer numerous advantages for Indian industries. It combines the benefits of traditional belt conveyors with the efficiency of zero-pressure accumulation. The BZPDC's motorized belts allow for precise control over the movement of materials, ensuring smooth transitions and reducing the risk of product jams or backups.

For Indian industries that deal with smaller cartons, , such as small automotive or manufacturing parts, the belted zero pressure conveyor is valuable. It can help reliably convey small parts for distribution. Additionally, the modular design of BZPDCs facilitates easy installation and scalability, enabling industries to adapt and expand their operations as needed.

3. Gravity Conveyor

Gravity conveyors can serve as trusted workhorses in Indian industries. These simple yet effective systems utilize the force of gravity to move materials along a downward slope. As a non-powered solution, gravity conveyors offer cost savings by reducing energy consumption and maintenance requirements.

Indian industries that prioritize sustainability and energy efficiency can greatly benefit from gravity conveyors. Moreover, these systems are highly versatile and can be customized to suit various requirements, such as inclines, declines, or even curved paths. Gravity conveyors are commonly used for light to medium loads, making them an ideal choice for industries involved in ecommerce, retail and warehousing.

4. Curved Conveyor

In many industrial settings, the need arises to transport materials around tight corners or irregularly shaped areas. This is where curved conveyors come into play. By incorporating curved sections, these conveyors allow for efficient transportation in limited spaces without compromising on speed or productivity.

Indian industries with constrained floor plans or intricate production layouts can greatly benefit from curved conveyors. Whether it's navigating around machinery, fitting into compact assembly lines, or maximizing available space, these conveyors offer the necessary flexibility. Curved conveyors can be customized to suit specific angles and load capacities, providing Indian industries with tailored solutions for their unique operational challenges.

Conveyor Automation for Indian Industries

Efficiency is the cornerstone of success in today's competitive industrial landscape. The integration of these advanced conveyor systems with efficient quality and design will help companies to minimize product damage, reduced energy consumption, increased operational efficiency and enhanced worker safety.
